"Myanmar Global Shin Kong Daily" reported on July 24 that the Director of the Myanmar Investment and Company Administration (DICA) Tan Hin Lun stated that the Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) has received applications for closure of approximately 10 companies. According to the Myanmar Investment Law, companies that have been approved by the MIC must be approved before they can officially shut down, and the tax authorities must check their tax status. He said that due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, some companies are reducing the scale of production and are even forced to close temporarily or permanently. Individual business owners ran away and did not pay workers' wages.

It is reported that as of June 21 this year, 100 garment and textile companies and 63 other companies have closed, and more than 54,000 workers have lost their jobs. Currently, 101 companies have resumed operations and more than 15,000 workers have returned to work.
